Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. The first time Selmon was brought up by Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie. They lived on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. In second football, he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the nation's best lineman. In his three years as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and won two national championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon graduated with a diploma from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth time of service was ten-hours per week in volunteer work during the college. After college he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was an all-pro three times before beginning his business career. The first job he had was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the country. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He coached his university team in 1975. In 1993, he joined at the University of South Florida's athletic department as the assistant director. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
