Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the only superstar to have moved from the country to mainstream and become a global pop culture icon. Swift shed country like it was a second layer, showing that she's perhaps the most intelligent pop singer/songwriter of her time. A person who has the ability to tap into the zeitgeist to make it personal and also sing in the other direction. Her early songs, such as the neotribute in tribute to Tim McGraw were a testament to her talent. However, her second album Fearless from 2008 showed the songwriter finding her voice, and also a larger public. The album ended up with a lot of legs not only in the U.S. where it racked the record with six platinum singles, thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well in the U.K. Canada and Australia. The Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago consolidated her previous popularity and launched the singer into superstardom. She grew in popularity through the three albums that followed - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within an industry she felt was hers to be. In the end, when she refocused her music by releasing stripped-down albums like 2020, folklore and Evermore however, she remained at the top. This position was maintained through re-recordings of her previous catalog, as along with Midnights the synth-based chart-topper 2022 album.
