Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on the 19th of January. 19. 1946, into a poor family with 12 kids eventually included, discovered early that she could escape suffering through her vivid imagination. Before she learned to write or read, she had already composed her own songs. The first guitar she received was gifted by her mother when she was eighteen. She began singing in the Knoxville Tenn station by the age of 11. The same year, she released her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. In high school she established herself in the school community but her goals were bigger. In 1964, the day following her graduation from high-school the singer moved to Nashville. Her first charting records for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. In the year 1967, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his syndicated television show. Parton began her career in the year 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. In 1974, she resigned from Wagoner's Show because the success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at Number. This was the first time a song was able to reach No.
